VMI
So what's keeping me busy you ask? I've been researching with the Vaccine Modeling Initiative group at Pitt. Check it out here: vaccinemodeling.org. and my picture/bio https://vaccinemodeling.pitt.edu/index.php/hermes-team-menu . We model vaccine supply chains in other countries, trying to optimize the supply chains to find how different scenarios effect the supply chain. I love it because it addresses issues that I hadn't ever considered before. I'd always thought: Oh there's a vaccine, give it to them! But sometimes there are other things to consider, like the size of the vial the vaccine is packaged in. For instance, in South America, a new vaccine was introduced, but the vial size was designed too large, so it displaced the measles vaccines and resulted in shortages of that vaccine, so more people died from the measles than the new vaccine saved. Anyway, I'm working 20 hours a week for them and I love it (if you somehow missed that in the previous part). It's really giving me a lot of perspective and I love it. I feel like I'm making a difference in advocating vaccines! My dream!
